Baby Monitors

I’m sure you’ll agree that the safety of your child is always at the forefront of your mind. None more so than when you are away from home or he/she is in the care of others or just asleep in their room. You can now help to alleviate some of that stress and worry by purchasing a baby monitor.

These are now very sophisticated, and allow a great peace of mind for a very little outlay.

We’ve all heard of the audio type, where you have what amounts to no more than a microphone, next to your child, and a speaker near you. If she cries, you’ll hear it and can make sure she’s ok. Now, there's nothing wrong with these, they do a very admiral job of providing you with a means of monitoring your child. But wouldn’t you prefer to see that they are ok? Isn’t that going to comfort you more?

Well now you can. There are a variety of video monitoring devices on the market, they come in all shapes and sizes, so the only choice to make is which is the best for you?

Personally, I’d choose the wireless option. This allows you the greatest flexibility, and if you can get a small one, it’s easy to clip it to your belt and carry it around the house with you, so you always know your child is safe.

Then you need to consider whether you want color or black and white video. Color is obviously more expensive but really what you need to ask yourself is how well the camera performs in dark conditions, because your baby will undoubtedly be sleeping in a darkened room.

How good is the audio? Make sure it is sensitive, because you will want to be able even the smallest sound.

You might also wish to consider a Duplex baby monitor. These allow a two-way communication, so not only can you see and hear your child, but they can hear you too.

What range does the monitor have and does it come with rechargeable batteries? And also check if you can alter the frequency that it transmits on – you might encounter interference if your neighbor has a similar device.

Some more advanced (and expensive) monitors also have a motion detector built in. Unlike conventional monitors that alert you if they detect movement, these alert you if there is a lack of movement over a given period. They are designed to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Try to buy the vest monitor you can for your budget taking into considerations all of the above points and you won’t be disappointed.
