Why The Wireless Option Is The Right Choice For You

Welcome to WirelesSecuritySytem.org, your source for quality security solutions online. Over the years, home security has evolved from simple alarms to very sophisticated surveillance systems. Thanks to the advances in technology, these are now very affordable, and offer great flexible solutions.

What follows is a brief guide as to why such a system is so good for your peace of mind, and what to consider when you purchase one.

Firstly let's look at the more conventional wired alarm option. This requires wiring to run from the main keypad to every sensor in the house – not really something most people want to do themselves. It’s usually costly too, and consists of knocking holes in walls and trying to cover up unsightly wires. And if you want to expand it, you need to make more holes. What if you move house? – it’s going to be very difficult to take it with you. You’ll probably need to install a whole new system in your new home.

The beauty of any wireless alarm is, as the name suggests, it has no wires (ok – you need a power cable to the main unit and a telephone line so the system can notify the authorities, but you get what we mean). No holes to drill. No cables that your child might trip over. You can even install them yourself. And because there are no wires, the cameras can be placed anywhere you wish – areas that might have been difficult if not impossible with a wired version. Added to that, you can easily move them around to get the best coverage if you’re not satisfied with the original positioning, you can link them to a video recorder or computer to record the information whilst you are away, and adding additional cameras is easy. And if you move? Just take it all with you.

That's your home fully secured, but what about your garage? A car is often forgotten when it to comes to security (when was the last time you looked when a car alarm was going off – right, you assumed it was a mistake, didn’t you?). Your garage can have sensors fitted on the doors, windows and even be set to detect smoke, fire, and water leaks (are you sure you turned off that tap in the garage?)

Any breaks in the network send an alert to the main monitoring panel. A certain amount of time is allowed for you to key in the alarm code before the the authorities are automatically alerted, because there can be a natural cause of the alarm being triggered – perhaps little Amy has taken her bike from the garage but forgotten to ask you to turn off the alarm first!

So what should you look out for? There are many different variations on the market to fit both budget and requirements so it’s a good idea to do a plan before hand. Write down each location that needs monitoring and how many cameras and/or sensors you’ll need. Remember, it’s easy to add extra sensors and cameras later, so don’t buy a huge pack of components and find you only need a fraction of it!

Here are some other things to help you make the correct choice:

Do you need just motion sensors, cameras or a combination of both? What are your sensors for? Do they need to detect movement, smoke, water, breaking glass…? - make sure you select the correct kind. If they’re going to be placed outside, make sure your system is designed to do this – some camera and motion detectors can handle all weather conditions, otherwise you may need to get waterproof casing for the ones that will be put outside.

Phone alerts (also known as Auto Dialers) – some detectors have the ability to send a text message to a designated mobile telephone if any alarm is triggered (this is, of course, in addition to notifying the appropriate authorities). The message will tell you which alarm was triggered and at what time.

Internet Access - you can also have the option to tap into your security system via the Internet, so you can keep tabs on your home whilst away.

Solar Powered Systems - yes, you can do your bit for the environment at the same time! These are usually supplied with a back-up power supply in the event they lose power at night. A great choice if you want your cameras in remote locations.

We hope our short guide has demonstrated how economical and easy it is to be safe in your home.
